Thoughts On Frank Ocean
Frank Ocean - arguably, the Bob Dylan of todays music? Bob Dylan was certainly a visionary and revolutionary through his lyrics or poetry some could say. I never liked listening to Dylan, he always sounded like he was moaning - but thats my opinion.
Frank Ocean has managed to create deep and meaningful music and lyrics; which can be interpreted in different ways to his listeners... 'Lonny Breaux' was Oceans first Mixtapes/records to date (2010-11). In this he used various different sounds and worked with various artists and producers. Frank initially started as a ghost writer for artists like Beyonce, Justin Bieber & John Legend. Lonny Breaux doexn't stand out as one of his best, but with the endless track-list it certainly caught attention of producers. Ocean was later signed and created 'nostalgiaULTRA' (2011), 'channelORANGE' (2012, one of my favourite albums), 'Blonde' [LP] & 'Endless' [Visual Album] (both in 2016).
Ocean's music is consistently unpredictable and mysterious, this further grips his audience. Some of my favourite songs include 'Pyramids', 'Seigfried', 'florida', 'Pink Matter'... followed by every song he's made on his last three releases... His music creates visions of art in my mind; so he's a huge inspiration for that.
